Introduction 

•Thermal fuse has a limited service life.

 

The thermal element of the thermal fuse is made of durable materials designed for long-term use. However, the service life of a thermal fuse depends on its application environment, especially if the thermal fuse is exposed to an environment close to its operating temperature for a long time.
Therefore, we recommend that the designer conduct a reliability test, that is, install the thermal fuse in the actual final application environment and simulate a normal operating condition to predict the service life of the device.

 

•When current passes through the thermal fuse, the temperature of its body rises.

 

The thermal fuse may heat up to the temperature of the body higher than the surrounding temperature due to conduction. In addition, the body temperature of the fuse may also increase due to many other factors such as installation methods. Therefore, we recommend that the designer measure the body temperature of the thermal fuse after performing the reliability test.

 

•Please remember to use a voltage and current lower than the rated value of the thermal fuse.

 

If a voltage and current higher than the rated value of the thermal fuse are used, the contacts in the SF type may fuse together and cause the thermal fuse to malfunction; the SM type and D6 type may also rupture.

 

•Please do not use the thermal fuse in an environment outside the standard specifications, such as an environment containing sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide gas, ammonia or formic acid. Its products are also not suitable for use in high humidity environments or immersed in liquids.

 

The housing of the thermal fuse* is made of copper alloy. Therefore, installing a thermal fuse under these or similar conditions may cause damage to the packaging resin or cracks in the case due to corrosion. As a result, the thermal fuse may operate when the operating temperature is below the operating temperature, or not operate when the operating temperature is exceeded.
